Grub’s Surgery
While Grub did have his surgery already, we came up short on our goal and had to pay for it on credit. In addition, he had some post-surgery complications that required another vet visit and medicine. We are keeping this fundraiser open in the hopes of getting closer to our goal so that we can pay down our debt and help other kitties.
Juniper’s Surgery
Juniper Needs Emergency Surgery!
We need help getting Juniper the surgery she needs ASAP. She has an appointment scheduled for December 9th.
She has feline chronic gingivo-stomatitis (FCGS) or just “stomatitis”, as it is often called.
Feline stomatitis is a severe and painful condition that involves inflammation and the formation of ulcers in your cat’s gums, cheeks, and tongue. These open sores can lead to significant discomfort and pain for your cat, ultimately causing them to avoid or even refuse to eat.
By definition, stomatitis means inflammation of the mucus lining in the mouth. In clinical use the term actually describes wide-spread severe oral inflammation (beyond gingivitis and periodontitis) that may also extend into deeper tissues.
The exact cause of stomatitis remains unknown, but it is widely believed to be an immune-mediated disorder where the cat’s immune system overreacts to dental plaque and bacteria on the tooth surface.
Juniper has already lost some of her teeth and she has received antibiotic treatment and pre-surgery bloodwork, but she needs surgery to remove the rest of her teeth. She can then live a long, happy life without her teeth.
